Contractors are not entitled to pay while travelling. 

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.

Package

GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights, and life support while on duty.

 

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

The company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation, and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

 

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation, and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address. 

 

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary, and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

 

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or any other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodation at the project.

 

Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), a copy will be provided upon acceptance.

Role Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, interviewing, and case-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including formal report writing.
  • Integrity, objectivity, and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Working knowledge of security systems, access control, and surveillance footage review.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital evidence platforms.
  • Fluent in English; or Arabic is an asset depending on the location.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Former military police, law enforcement, criminal investigations, or intelligence service background preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in security investigations or related fields, with at least 2–3 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Formal training in investigative procedures, interviewing, evidence handling, and report writing (e.g. CID, NCIS, SIA Investigations Level 3, or similar).
  • Familiarity with host nation legal processes and jurisdictional boundaries in conflict or post-conflict zones.
  • First Aid certification (FREC or FPOS Level 3) or Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) is an asset.
  • Current and valid UK C or C1 Driver's license (for B6 vehicles) or equivalent
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check within the recent 6 months.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience conducting investigations in military or contractor environments (e.g. DoD, NATO, UN, private security).
  • Familiarity with ISO 18788, PSC.1, or other international security standards.
  • Knowledge of Iraqi criminal law, labour law, and relevant regulatory frameworks (if applicable).
  • Ability to brief stakeholders, including clients, legal advisors, and risk managers.

Services

Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to, the management and execution of complex security investigations involving breaches, misconduct, criminal activity, and procedural violations at Balad, Iraq. The Senior Security Investigator is responsible for leading inquiries, collecting and preserving evidence, producing formal reports, and advising management on risk mitigation and corrective actions. All investigative activities must be conducted in accordance with legal standards, organizational policies, and base-specific protocols. Services the contractor can expect to carry out, but are not limited to, are as follows:

 

  • Lead comprehensive investigations into security-related incidents, including but not limited to theft, sabotage, policy violations, protocol breaches, insider threats, and misconduct.
  • Collect, secure, and manage both physical and digital evidence in accordance with proper chain-of-custody procedures and legal admissibility requirements.
  • Conduct interviews with witnesses, suspects, and relevant personnel using structured, professional, and impartial techniques.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement authorities, military police, or host nation security as required, ensuring compliance with base and national legal frameworks.
  • Produce clear, detailed, and well-structured investigative reports, including timelines, photographic or forensic evidence logs, interview transcripts, and final recommendations.
  • Provide security management with expert analysis and advice on incident outcomes, potential disciplinary measures, and future preventive actions.
  • Maintain and update an incident tracking system to monitor case progress, ensure closure of investigations, and support the development of lessons-learned summaries.
  • Conduct routine assessments of potential vulnerabilities across the base security environment and contribute to the formulation of mitigation strategies.
  • Support the training of personnel in areas such as incident reporting, documentation standards, workplace ethics, and security awareness.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality, discretion, and compliance with operational security guidelines throughout all stages of investigation and reporting.

 

This position is integral to maintaining integrity, discipline, and operational security at Balad, Iraq, ensuring that all security incidents are addressed promptly, professionally, and in accordance with applicable regulations and best practices.
