USD $xxxxxx per annum, to be paid monthly in arrears.

*subject to local tax (if applicable) and less any applicable salary due under any relevant Local Employment Contract.

 

As the project moves beyond the initial mobilisation phase, your contract will be revised within the next three months to align with GardaWorld’s standard terms. This will include a reduction to your current monthly rate to reflect the long-term pay structure for the project and to bring it in line with country and industry norms. In addition, the current 40-day Home Leave cycle will be replaced by a formal rotational contract, with clearly defined on duty and off duty periods.

Onboarding Fee

USD $218.00 per month, to be paid in arrears.

Home Leave

40 days per 12-month period, subject to operational requirements.

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.

Package

GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights, and life support while on duty.

 

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

The company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation, and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

 

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation, and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address. 

 

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary, and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

 

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or any other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodation at the project.

 

Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), a copy will be provided upon acceptance.

  • Well-versed in operational and military protocols, enabling seamless coordination in joint or multinational environments

 

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Security Studies, International Relations, Business, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred)
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in risk analysis, security management, or operational planning, preferably in a military, diplomatic, or expeditionary context
  • Working knowledge of recognised risk management frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000, DoD RMF)
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve complex problems under pressure
  • Capable of operating autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams in high-stress or high-threat environments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills for data analysis and presentation

 

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in military or diplomatic Security Operations Centres (SOC) or control room environments
  • Familiarity with Iraq’s operational terrain, security architecture, and current threat landscape
  • Prior deployment to forward operating bases (FOBs) or post-conflict theatres
  • Experience supporting or integrating base defence systems, emergency planning, or incident response
  • Practical use of risk management platforms such as ARM, LogicManager, or RiskWatch

Services

Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to, the provision of strategic risk management, threat analysis, and operational resilience planning to support leadership decision-making and mission assurance at Balad, Iraq. The Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing the identification, analysis, and mitigation of a wide range of risks—security, operational, logistical, and compliance—across base activities. This role ensures operational continuity in a dynamic environment through robust risk frameworks, close coordination with key stakeholders, and alignment with international standards and host-nation regulations.

 

Services the contractor can expect to carry out, but are not limited to, are as follows:

  • Lead comprehensive risk assessments across all operational domains including physical security, logistics, infrastructure, cyber systems, and personnel safety.
  • Develop and maintain a live risk register with clearly defined mitigation strategies and response actions.
  • Monitor evolving threat landscapes and geopolitical developments that may impact operational security or business continuity.
  • Advise leadership on strategic risk trends, vulnerabilities, and scenario planning to support proactive decision-making.
  • Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and post-incident reviews to inform continuous improvement of risk controls.
  • Provide regular threat briefings and risk dashboards to senior stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks such as ISO 31000, ISO 18788, and other applicable regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain key risk documentation including SOPs, contingency plans, SITREPs, and risk communication protocols.
  • Coordinate with military, diplomatic, and civilian counterparts to ensure integrated risk awareness and response across departments.
  • Support testing and evaluation of emergency management systems, evacuation procedures, and crisis response drills.
  • Demonstrate high-level analytical, communication, and leadership skills while operating under pressure in high-threat environments.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness, ethical conduct, and compliance across all levels of the operation.

This position is vital to enabling secure, informed, and uninterrupted operations at Balad, Iraq. The Risk Manager plays a central role in enhancing mission readiness, safeguarding personnel and assets, and reinforcing operational resilience in a complex and high-risk setting.
