GardaWorld offers a competitive daily rate (Contractor will only be paid whilst on-duty – no payment made for Off-duty)

Duty Rotation

6 weeks on, 6 weeks off, subject to operational requirements

Travel Pay

Contractors are not entitled to pay while travelling. The first day of pay is the day of arrival in the country of operations. The last day of pay is the day of departure from the country of operations. Regardless of the time of arrival and departure, contractors are entitled to half of the daily on duty rate on the day of their arrival in and departure from the country of operations.

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required in order to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed. 

Package

GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights and life support while on duty.

 

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

Company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

 

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address.

 

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

 

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or such other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodations at the project.

Role Requirements

Essential

  • Proven and demonstrable experience of commercial communications systems; HF/VHF/UHF radio, Satellite telephone systems, VSAT, as well as ECM, IT, CCTV, RF Safety, Electrical safety (PAT.)
  • Fluent written and spoken English Management of communications team comprising operating and technical trades, including shift rosters and leave schedules.
  • Management of stores accounts.
  • Management and planning of radio networks.
  • Design and implementation of training packages.
  • SC cleared
  • SIA non frontline - Close Protection
  • Minimum of BTEC HNC in Telecommunications – Electrical/Electronic Engineering or HND in Communications Systems Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a telecommunications engineering role, plus, a minimum of 2 years in a telecommunications planning and management role.

Or

  • Former SNCO with BTEC NC in Telecommunications – Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Communications Systems Management with minimum of 5years experience at SNCO level.

Or

  • Other national equivalents as applicable.
  • Appointment to be approved by OSM or Client representative

 

Desirable

  • Ex-Military with a minimum of 2 years’ experience of static operations rooms and commercial communications equipment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and information to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to control multiple tasks whilst retaining clear objectives and focus.
  • Proven track record of managing communications equipment and personnel in difficult/hazardous environments.
  • Ability to work in arduous conditions
  • Wide ranging experience of commercial communications equipment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relevant communications standards or best practice e.g. Vehicle Installations, Antenna and feeder types and uses along with installation practice, current regulations regarding equipment types and future developments.

Services

Services provided by the Contractor shall be those typically expected for someone in the Position and include, but not be limited to the provision mobile and static operational support services to ensure the safety and security of all client staff and other personnel who come under duty of care of FCDO Baghdad, Iraq. Services the Contractor can expect to carry out, would include 

 

The Communications Manager who, together with the Communications Technician and ops-coordinators, will provide a service to the Client.

  • Administering, maintaining, and repairing, or backloading, all of the Client’s communications equipment and establishing and maintaining communication centres in Baghdad and other locations as required.
  • Acting as communication and technical advisers and running communication and technical systems including but not limited to HF, UHF, VHF, telecommunications, Internet and Voice over Internet and other communications or security-related electronic equipment.
  • With the Client’s prior approval, liaising and coordinating as necessary with other agencies and organisations on behalf of the Client.
  • Undertaking any other direction or reasonable request given by appropriate GardaWorld Management team in accordance with GW Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines
