*subject to local tax (if applicable) and less any applicable salary due under any relevant Local Employment Contract.

 

As the project moves beyond the initial mobilisation phase, your contract will be revised within the next three months to align with GardaWorld’s standard terms. This will include a reduction to your current monthly rate to reflect the long-term pay structure for the project and to bring it in line with country and industry norms. In addition, the current 40-day Home Leave cycle will be replaced by a formal rotational contract, with clearly defined on duty and off duty periods.

Onboarding Fee

USD $218.00 per month, to be paid in arrears.

40 days per 12-month period, subject to operational requirements

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required in order to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred shall be reimbursed.

Package

GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights and life support while on duty.

 

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

Company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

 

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address.

 

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

 

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or such other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodations at the project.

Role Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

  • Provides proven leadership support in high-risk environments, including conflict and post-conflict zones.
  • Assists in tactical decision-making and crisis response during mission-critical situations.
  • Supports the coordination of complex convoy operations involving multiple vehicles, routes, and threat assessments.
  • Proficient in GPS tracking platforms, mission planning tools, and secure communications systems.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and client-facing skills, with sensitivity to cultural and operational nuances.
  • Contributes to the development, mentoring, and field oversight of PSD team members.
  • Understands convoy tactics, embus/debus procedures, and supports close protection planning.
  • Capable of producing clear and timely written reports including SITREPs, movement logs, and After-Action Reviews (AARs).

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in military, law enforcement, or private security, with at least 2 years in a PSD team leader or supervisory role.
  • Recognized and valid Close Protection qualification (UK SIA or equivalent).
  • Extensive operational experience in austere or hostile environments, ideally including Iraq or similar regions.
  • Valid firearms competency certificate and in-date trauma medical qualification (e.g., FPOS-I, FREC Level 3, or equivalent).
  • Ability to meet international vetting and background screening standards.
  • Current and valid UK or International Cat C or C1 Driver's license (for B6 vehicles) or equivalent.
  • Medically and physically fit for extended field deployments.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting SOC/control room operations in military or diplomatic missions.
  • Arabic language skills or prior work with host nation security teams.
  • Understanding of government contracting and PSD compliance protocols.
  • Experience assisting with the development and implementation of PSD SOPs.
  • Advanced driving certifications, including armored vehicle and off-road handling qualifications.

Services

Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to, the support of leadership, operational oversight, and tactical execution of Personal Security Detachment (PSD) missions operating in and around Balad, Iraq. The Deputy Manager – PSD Operations assists the PSD Manager in planning, coordinating, and supervising all protective movement tasks, ensuring that team performance, mission planning, and risk mitigation meet contractual and international standards. In the absence of the PSD Manager, the Deputy assumes full operational control and acts as the primary point of contact for security planning, team deployment, and client liaison.

 

Services the contractor can expect to carry out, but are not limited to, are as follows:

 

  • Assist in the direct supervision of PSD teams, including team leaders, medics, drivers, and tactical commanders during security operations.
  • Support the coordination and planning of all client movement tasks, including route selection, vehicle assignments, and mission-specific threat assessments.
  • Ensure operational discipline and readiness by enforcing SOP compliance, conducting rehearsals, and verifying team preparedness.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Tactical Operations Centre (TOC) regarding mission status, movements, and incident reporting.
  • Contribute to mission planning documentation, including client movement schedules, risk assessments, and contingency planning.
  • Lead or support After Action Reviews (AARs) and team debriefs to improve future mission performance and operational learning.
  • Monitor the serviceability of weapons, radios, communications systems, vehicles, and PPE assigned to PSD teams.
  • Support client-facing operations by ensuring the professional conduct, safety, and mission assurance of VIPs during movements.
  • Track evolving threats and assist in the dissemination of intelligence updates and tactical adjustments to deployed teams.
  • Assist in the recruitment, vetting, onboarding, and appraisal of PSD personnel in accordance with company policy and contractual obligations.

 

This position plays a vital role in maintaining the security, professionalism, and operational effectiveness of PSD teams deployed in a high-threat environment. The Deputy Manager ensures continuity of leadership, supports the operational integrity of all missions, and contributes to the ongoing safety of personnel and clients.
