Contractors are not entitled to pay while travelling. 

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.

Package

GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights, and life support while on duty.

 

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

The company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation, and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

 

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation, and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address. 

 

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary, and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

 

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or any other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodation at the project.

 

Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), a copy will be provided upon acceptance.

Role Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong situational awareness, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple inputs simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written), including report writing and radio protocol.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic proficiency is highly desirable.
  • Leadership and team coordination capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and security software platforms (e.g., Genetec, Milestone, VMS).
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years in security operations, with at least 2 years in a control room or SOC environment.
  • Experience in a military, law enforcement, or private security setting is essential.
  • Training or certification in security operations (e.g., HABC Level 3, ASIS, or equivalent) desirable.
  • Familiarity with security technologies including CCTV, access control, GIS, and alarm integration platforms.
  • Current and valid UK C or C1 Driver's license (for B6 vehicles) or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check within the recent 6 months.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a multinational security environment or joint operations centre.
  • Knowledge of Iraqi security dynamics and military base protocols.
  • Advanced training in emergency response, crisis management, or intelligence analysis.
  • Familiarity with drone/UAS detection systems or counter-surveillance technologies.

Services

Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to, the provision of supervisory and operational support to the Security Operations Centre (SOC) at Balad, Iraq. The Deputy SOC Manager plays a key role in ensuring 24/7 situational awareness, incident coordination, and operational continuity. Acting as second-in-command within the SOC, the Deputy Manager assumes full leadership responsibilities in the absence of the SOC Manager. Services the contractor can expect to carry out, but are not limited to, are as follows:

 

  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the SOC, including continuous monitoring, real-time response coordination, and integration of field security assets.
  • Supervise SOC operators and shift leads to ensure full staffing coverage, compliance with SOPs, and consistent performance across all shifts.
  • Oversee the use and functionality of critical systems such as CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, alarm systems, and radio communications platforms.
  • Analyse incoming intelligence, threat reports, and situational data to support timely and informed security decision-making.
  • Coordinate the deployment of security personnel and resources in response to incidents; escalate significant events to the SOC Manager and senior security leadership as required.
  • Ensure that all incidents, alerts, and operational activities are accurately logged in real time, and that daily Situation Reports (SITREPs) are compiled and distributed.
  • Maintain current and accurate operational displays, dashboards, and geospatial awareness tools to support active monitoring and decision support.
  • Conduct detailed shift handovers and operational briefings to ensure continuity and effective communication between outgoing and incoming SOC teams.
  • Support the routine testing and maintenance of communications equipment, alarm systems, backup power, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Mentor, coach, and train SOC personnel in system operations, emergency procedures, and best practices in incident management and threat analysis.
  • Periodically review and update SOC procedures, emergency contact lists, SOPs, and internal documentation to ensure operational readiness.

 

This position is essential to the effectiveness and resilience of the Security Operations Centre at Balad, directly contributing to the protection of personnel, infrastructure, and mission-critical operations.
