Contractors are not entitled to pay while travelling. 

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.

Package

GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights, and life support while on duty.

 

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

The company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation, and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

 

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation, and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address. 

 

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary, and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

 

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or any other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodation at the project.

 

Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), a copy will be provided upon acceptance.

Role Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent situational awareness and ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); Arabic is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and security systems software (e.g. VMS, access control, incident management platforms).
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments and respond to dynamic threat scenarios.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; higher education in security, IT, or crisis management preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a security operations centre, control room, or military command post.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience is essential.
  • Security certifications (e.g. HABC Level 3, ASIS, or control room operations) are an asset.
  • Familiarity with operating CCTV systems, radio communications, GIS platforms, and incident logging tools.
  • Current and valid UK C or C1 Driver's license (for B6 vehicles) or equivalent
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check within the recent 6 months.

 

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in military or diplomatic mission SOC/control room environments.
  • Familiarity with Iraqi operational terrain and threat landscape.
  • Training in emergency response, crisis management, or hostile environment awareness.
  • Experience with drone/UAS detection systems or integrated surveillance technologies.

Services

Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to, the provision of supervisory and operational leadership during assigned shifts within the Security Operations Centre (SOC) at Balad, Iraq. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring real-time monitoring of security systems, effective coordination of incident response, and adherence to operational protocols. This role is vital to maintaining 24/7 situational awareness and communication between the SOC and ground security elements. Services the contractor can expect to carry out, but are not limited to, are as follows:

 

  • Supervise SOC personnel during designated shifts, ensuring continuous coverage, situational awareness, and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Operate and monitor a range of electronic security systems including CCTV, intrusion alarms, access control platforms, vehicle tracking, and radio networks.
  • Ensure accurate and timely logging of incidents, radio communications, observations, and operational updates in accordance with established procedures.
  • Serve as the shift’s primary point of contact for incident management, escalating events to the Deputy SOC Manager or SOC Manager when required.
  • Coordinate with mobile patrols, static guards, and emergency responders to ensure timely and effective incident resolution.
  • Conduct pre- and post-shift briefings, manage handovers, and ensure continuity of information and operational awareness between shifts.
  • Monitor and assess incoming threat intelligence, disseminating relevant warnings and producing SITREPs (Situation Reports) as necessary.
  • Maintain key operational records including checklists, emergency contact lists, communication logs, and incident tracking documentation.
  • Support the regular testing and operational readiness of SOC systems, communication tools, and alert mechanisms.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise SOC operators in security protocols, system use, incident documentation, and emergency response procedures.

 

This position is central to maintaining the operational integrity and effectiveness of the Security Operations Centre at Balad, Iraq, supporting the rapid coordination of security assets and contributing directly to base-wide safety and incident management.
