What does a Control Room Security Guard in Calgary do?

  • Monitor security systems, including access control, intrusion alarm, CCTV, audio communication, building automation, environmental and fire, life, alarm and safety systems
  • Access Control- create tickets for access as requested, request vendor unlocks, badges for vendors and visitors to control access
  • Communicate with building occupants during emergencies and with local police, fire and emergency personnel regarding on-site emergencies.
  • Provide clear and concise documentation of all incidents through available logs
  • Patrolling is required for this position

 

Qualifications to become a Control Room Security Guard in Calgary

  • A valid Alberta security guard license
  • 1 year of experience in security at a corporate building
  • 1 year of experience in dispatch/control center
  • Must be able to work 12 hour rotational shift day and night shifts 
  • This position is located in the downtown- no provided parking but next to train station

 

Skills to become a Control Room Security Guard in Calgary

  • A fundamental knowledge and preferred experience of security technology and systems such as alarm and access control systems, CCTV systems, communications technologies, and general MS software programs
  • Excellent personal computing skills to include all office related products and familiarity with specialized security applications
  • Ability to develop sound knowledge of critical site interrelationships and key members of Property Management
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with an emphasis on multi-tasking and rapidly assessing and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professional demeanor under very stressful situations.
  • Must be self-motivated and consistently show initiative.
