GardaWorld is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Industrial Shift Supervisor to support security operations at a large industrial site in Fort McMurray.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day security operations during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance with site procedures, supporting security personnel, and maintaining operational excellence in a fast-paced industrial environment. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who leads by example, promotes a strong safety culture, and provides mentorship and support to security personnel on shift.

What does an Industrial Shift Supervisor do?

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Industrial Shift Supervisor oversees the day-to-day site security operations during their assigned shift while ensuring GardaWorld's commitment to safety, service excellence, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, coach, and provide on-shift training to security personnel.
• Conduct mobile patrols, foot patrols, traffic safety monitoring, and regular inspections of security posts, personnel, vehicles, and equipment.
• Monitor access control operations and ensure compliance with site procedures, training requirements, and security protocols.
• Document and report all security incidents, observations, and site events through internal systems, and shift reports.
• Participate in workplace observations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and support site safety initiatives.
• Assist with emergency response, incident coordination, investigations, and traffic control during emergency situations.
• Identify and report performance, attendance, training, or conduct concerns to the Site Manager.
• Be fully trained and capable of performing any security position on site as operationally required.
• Act as the primary point of contact for significant incidents and escalate concerns to the Site Manager as required.

Qualifications to become an Industrial Shift Supervisor

• Must be authorized to work in Canada
• Ability to successfully pass and maintain compliance with client-mandated drug and alcohol testing requirements
• This position requires the use of respiratory protection equipment. Candidates must be able to pass N95 respirator fit testing and comply with all sites respiratory protection requirements, including being clean-shaven where required to ensure a proper seal
• Valid Alberta Security Guard Licence
• High School diploma
• Valid Standard First Aid/ Level C CPR/AED
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving abstract
• Minimum 2-3 years of security supervisor experience, preferably in an industrial, energy, or large-scale environment
• Previous supervisory, team lead, or leadership experience is considered a strong asset
• Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent report writing and incident documentation abilities
• Experience conducting investigations and managing security incidents is considered an asset
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
• Valid CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
• Wildlife Awareness & Wildlife Intermediate
• Field Ergonomics & OHS Legislation Awareness
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced industrial environment
