We are currently hiring a Human Resources Advisor for Edmonton International Airport on a permanent, full time basis.

 

The successful candidate will carry out work on Human Resources programs and policies related to the Prairies Region Screening Operations whilst working closely with the Recruitment department on onboarding candidates and scheduling training courses.

 

 

Major Accountabilities / Responsibilities includes, but are not limited to the following:

  • Staying apprised of resources needed to fulfill staffing requirements in collaboration with the Recruitment department
  • Overseeing and implementing all aspects of onboarding new candidates including providing orientation sessions for new Screening Officers
  • Responsibility for completion and accuracy of employee files to meet quality and audit standards
  • Managing and validating required updates to employee records for new and existing employees
  • Coordination and tracking of probation and performance reviews for Screening Officers to ensure quality and audit compliance whilst providing advice on relevant performance management documentation and action plans
  • Facilitate benefit and group insurance enrollment and providing support to employees with benefits inquiries
  • Working with Regional HR to manage documentation relating to WCB and Insurance claims
  • Supporting back to work programs within division including LOA, WCB and accommodations
  • Providing confidential professional consultation to employees
  • Coach and provide guidance to management in areas such as investigation of complaints and concerns, problem solving, dispute resolution, and imposing discipline as required
  • Liaising with Management on employee and labour relations issues to verify decisions are consistent with collective agreements and that of Canada Labour Code

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in a Human Resources role
  • Experience in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and execute tasks independently
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent in written and oral English
  • Proven ability to be highly organized in a fast paced and deadline oriented work environment
  • Attention to detail combined with the creativity and resourcefulness to work in a heavily regulated industry
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Availability to travel

 

Assets

  • Experience in unionized, federal and / or heavily regulated environment
  • Experience in aviation, resources and / or security operations industries
  • French fluency written & oral

 

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident as defined in the Immigration Act, with an employment authorization document
  • Able to obtain a Transportation Security Clearance and Secret Security Clearance
  • No previous criminal background for which a pardon has not been granted
  • 18 years of age or older
