We are currently looking for a Screening Point Manager - YHM (Hamilton)



Reporting to the General Manager, the Screening Point Manager (SPM) is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the day-to-day screening checkpoint operations. This role manages unionized screening personnel to support working at their designated checkpoints by providing direction, leadership, mentoring, coaching and correction to ensure optimal customer service and safety for the traveling public. SPM is also responsible for daily administrative tasks and remains first point of contact for the assigned airport.






  • Manage performance of the screening personnel to ensure continuous excellence in service delivery
  • Coach, mentor, correct and discipline direct reports on conformity to the standards of performance by providing feedback on areas of improvement to professional standards
  • Communicate changes and updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Bulletins, directives, information or security notices, and any other critical information in a timely manner
  • Direct the workforce by adjusting employee allocation and deployment at each screening checkpoint to optimize scheduling and maximize the productivity of checkpoints to meet operational requirements
  • Conduct performance/annual reviews and 30/60/90-day evaluations for screening personnel
  • Collaborate with recruitment department to fulfill staffing requirements by supporting and directly participating in hiring process, interview process and on-boarding
  • Complete and securely maintain all employee files to internal quality and audit standards
  • Manage and validate required updates (STF) to HQ for existing and new employees
  • Ensure compliance of all termination and retrieval of proprietary material
  • Manage employee training requirements for the division and maintain records
  • Update CATSA Tactics to ensure necessary training is tracked through the CATSA portal
  • Manage payroll and billing, update SITT and process all payroll to GardaWorld HQ including sick time, vacation, etc.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels are met – both long and short-term
  • Manage and maintain employee uniform files for active and inactive employees and ensure proper recovery of controlled items is completed as per internal document standards including creation and deactivation of employee files, placing and distributing orders, activating and deactivating employee accounts through supplier
  • Track RAICs and parking passes and maintains overall parking administration
  • Conduct and track daily briefings, bulletins, and related documents
  • Implement contingency and/or emergency preparedness plans as prescribed by the client and resolve contingencies and emergency procedures as they arise
  • Ensure deployment of resources is completed by qualifications and ensure that there are bilingual personnel at the screening points as per the SOP
  • Complete all daily testing equipment documents as per SOP and internal document policies
  • Develop an effective day-to-day, transactional working relationship with CATSA, Airport Authority, Union and Airlines to effectively balance and meet their requirements
  • Communicate clear and specific performance expectations to direct reports and others as required
  • Other duties as required






  • Post secondary education in Business Management/Aviation or a related field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years experience managing in unionized environment
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 fast paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook)
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Experience and knowledge of aviation industry is an asset
  • Previous screening in aviation experience is an asset
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset
