Aegis offers a competitive daily rate (Contractor will only be paid whilst on-duty – no payment made for Off-duty)

Duty Rotation

8 weeks on, 4 weeks off, subject to operational requirements

Travel Pay

Contractors are not entitled to pay while travelling. The first day of pay is the day of arrival in the country of operations. The last day of pay is the day of departure from the country of operations.

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required in order to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.


GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights and life support while on duty.


Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

Company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address.


The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.


The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or such other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodations at the project.


Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), copy will be provided upon acceptance.

Role Requirements

  • Security Clearance – Must hold or be eligible to obtain and be in the process of obtaining an Australian National Security clearance at the level of Top Secret (NV2) – individuals who fail to obtain, or retain will be subject to removal
  • Sound knowledge and skill relevant to their positions/duties regarding the planning and conduct of protective security operations including static guarding, personal security, intelligence, threat assessment and close personal protection in a high risk environment.
  • Experience for QM and Vehicle Fleet Manager - must have relevant experience for min of one year in a high-risk environment.
  • Previous Afghanistan experience in a similar capacity would be an advantage.
  • The Vehicle FM should have fleet management and armoured vehicle experience.
  • Vehicle mechanic qualifications are desirable for the Vehicle FM.
  • Skills in the Microsoft office suite is desirable
  • A clear Australian National Criminal History check (aka police check/clearance is required)
  • Able to communicate in Pashto/Dari is an advantage


Services provided by the Contractor shall be those typically expected for someone in the Position and include, but not be limited to the provision of ops support to ensure the safety and security of all client staff and other personnel who come under duty of care of Australian Embassy, Kabul. Services the Contractor can expect to carry out, would include: 

As  Quartermaster

  • The Quartermaster (QM) is to ensure all contract equipment from both DFAT and GardaWorld is accounted for at all times by the use of an Inventory/Account system. This system is to include all Equipment, expense stores, weapons and vehicles.
  • This Account System is to include a break down into the following sub sections; all equipment in total, on hand in the store, U/S equipment, Destroyed Equipment and on issue to the teams on the ground. The equipment issues records are to be kept up to date and available for perusal by the Security Manager at all times.
  • The QM is to ensure that all equipment that requires maintenance, weapons, tactical equipment all have maintenance carried out when required and a Maintenance Record is to be kept for all items.
  • The QM is to ensure that a 10% stock take is conducted weekly, with a 100% complete stock take carried out every 6 months. This is to be recorded and reported to the Project Manager on the 28th of each month.
  • The QM is to account for all unserviceable equipment and file a destruction certificate with the Embassy on any equipment that is not repairable. He is to then follow procedures to ensure that all unrepeatable equipment is replaced utilizing the correct purchasing and billing chain, dependent on ownership of equipment.


As Fleet Manager

  • The responsibilities for the fleet position is to maintain the scheduled servicing, booking of ad hoc repairs, weekly vehicle checks, updating the fleet database and maintain the invoicing for completed works in accordance to the Commonwealth procurement procedures, other responsibilities include maintaining the vehicle spare parts, stores and on site fuel supplies.
  • Manage fleet maintenance and servicing of all vehicles. To be carried out in accordance with current regulations.
  • Maintain and manage the Australian Embassy, Afghanistan’s vehicle data base.
  • Develop, implement and maintain vehicle repair and maintenance cycles across the whole fleet.
  • Co-ordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs with external agencies.
  • Provide Weekly reports and returns as required on the operational status, repair costing, mileage and fuel usage of all vehicles.
  • Assist AEK with registration of all fleet vehicles with Ministry of Interior.
  • Assist with vehicle maintenance training for operators.
  • Advise on all vehicle fleet management issues.
  • Manage all vehicle accident documentation.
  • Manage all vehicle write off and disposal documentation.
  • Assist in the development of the plan for a vehicle replacement program.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Project Manager or Security Manager.
  • Undertaking any other direction or reasonable request given by appropriate GardaWorld Management team in accordance with GW Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines.
