Externally: End-user Clients, Property Managers/Landlords, Technology Consultants, Architects, Civil, Structural and Electrical Engineers, IT System Integrators

Job Summary:

The Senior Technician is responsible for managing, supervising and leading all maintenance related systems, projects and developments in the company. The incumbent will provide leadership to the Maintenance Team which delivers technical support, periodic maintenance, troubleshooting and fault-resolution of all technology products and services for clients throughout the country

Key Responsibilities:

1. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance;

2. Manage the maintenance teams and functions within agreed upon budgets, timelines and standards. Constitute maintenance teams and assign responsibilities to ensure maximum utilisation and productivity;

3. Direct and schedule maintenance activities, monitor for quality delivery and endeavour to eliminate repeat work and unfulfilled scheduled tasks in line with commitments to clients; work with the Installation Manager in developing the maintenance schedule

4. Review quality assurance/quality control and maintenance reports throughout the maintenance cycles to support future plans and modify maintenance activities.

5.  Produce task deliverables, documentation, reports, and presentation materials including Job Cards, Commissioning Documents, Training Manuals, Completion Certificates, BoQ and BOM reports.

6.  Maintain records of the machines and utilities, analysing these and identifying cost management initiatives as well machine optimization opportunities.

7.  Maintain client relation through interactions in order to evaluate, communicate and match client needs in the course of maintenance duties. Present findings of work to team members and clients in an iterative and participative manner as needed.

8. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards and requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for maintenance operations.

9.Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labour and materials.

10. Keep abreast with and maintain security technology awareness including maintaining currency with the latest products and solutions available in the market

11.  Direct training and coaching of workers to improve work performance and acquaint departmental technicians with company policies and procedures; and

12. Manage section staff capacity and skill levels through human resource planning and forecasting to ensure that there is always sufficient capacity to fulfil internal and external customer requirements.

 

Principal Outputs of this Role:

You shall be responsible for uploading and updating records in the shared platform (Teams) as applicable"

i.          Improved efficiency and overall cost optimisation

ii.          Preventative maintenance plans with clear project plans, WIP schedules and positive TAT reports

iii.         Proper storage of maintenance records and timely reports and documentation, BoMs and BoQs reports for Sales Order reconciliation

iv.         Minimize downtime and increase efficiency on all installations

v.         Continuous improvement through periodic technical workgroup engagements with the teams, to be captured in monthly KPI reports

Accountability:

The Senior Technician is accountable to the Tech Supervisor and Alarms Technical Manager for responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of KPIs.

Qualifications & Experience:

•Bachelor’s degree in electrical and Electronic Engineering, ICT security or any related field 

•Higher Diploma or Diploma in design technology, engineering, security and risk management or any related field.;

•Minimum of eight (8) years maintenance experience with at least 3 years demonstrable experience in project implementation and management at a supervisory level in the infrastructure / facilities / technical services sector

•In-depth knowledge of the latest physical and electronic security systems including excellent technical / product knowledge of all types of security, fire and BMS systems and solutions such as but not limited to Alarm Systems, Access Control, CCTV and Fire Detection Systems.

•Certification in any of the following: Gallagher, Avigilon, Cathexis Vision, Milestone, Genetec and Lenel

•Ability to understand and apply project plans and to produce project and commissioning documentation, including but not limited to Job Cards, Site Drawings and Completion Certificates

•Tech savvy with good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint and Visio
