Nairobi, Kenya or Johannesburg with some travel across East Africa to our country offices including but not limited to Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC and other locations where the company has operations.

Job Outline:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Bid Writer with experience in Integrated Security Systems to join our growing team. The individual must be able to turn complex technical information into clear, engaging content that people actually want to read. You will play a key role in creating compelling and technically accurate proposals in response to RFI’s,EOIs,RFPs and RFQs, ensuring alignment with client specifications and company capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Analyze bid requirements and interpret technical specifications related to CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Detection, and Integrated Security Systems.

• Write, edit, and proofread high-quality bid content, including technical method statements, solution descriptions, capability overviews, and compliance matrices.

• Collaborate with technical engineers, project managers, sales, and commercial teams to gather and present accurate information.

• Ensure bid responses clearly demonstrate compliance, added value, and technical competence.

• Maintain and update a library of reusable technical content and case studies.

• Contribute to bid planning sessions, kick-off meetings, and review stages.

• Format documents professionally and ensure timely submission in accordance with client deadlines.

• Stay updated with relevant standards (SABS, BS EN, NSI, ISO, GDPR) and industry trends in electronic security.

 

Accountability:

The Technical Bid Writer is accountable to the Bid Manager for their responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of their KPIs.

Authority:

As directed and delegated by the Bid Manager/ Head of Sales / Technical Director

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in technical bid writing, ideally within the electronic security systems sector.
  • Strong knowledge of CCTV (IP, analog, cloud-based) and Access Control systems (biometric, RFID, door entry, etc.).
  • Familiarity with integrated security platforms, PSIM, and VMS software (e.g. Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, client-focused responses.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with bid management tools is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Understanding of commercial and procurement processes in both public and private sectors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Project Management Certification (Prince 2 or PMP)
  • APMP® Practitioner Certification
  • APMP® Foundation Certification (minimum)
