Contact and Cooperation:

 Internally: Focus on general finance tasks, working independently within small office and as part the wider Garda World International Protective Services finance team.  High level of collaboration with other finance roles and stakeholders with other company offices. 

 Externally: Local banks, suppliers, clients, contractors, accountants and auditors


Job Outline:

 The Accountant will provide proactive assistance and support to the Manager, Finance UK and is accountable for the delivery of the following duties;

•             General Ledger data entry to trial balance, including prepaid, accruals, work in progress, fixed assets and intercompany account transactions

•             Monthly balance sheet reconciliations

•             Monthly reporting to group, including forecasts and variance analysis

•             Business Partnering to internal clients providing support and subject matter expertise

•             Treasury management, including managing UK cash-flow, cash requests, reconciliations of bank accounts, petty cash and credit cards, plus liaising with bank where necessary 

•             Assisting with UK and group audits

•             Accounts receivable, including preparation of sales invoices on an as required basis

•             Accounts payable, including setup of payments for authorization

•             Management of Travel invoice

•             Preparation of VAT Returns/EC Sales Lists

•             Trade Statistic Data

•             Monthly upload of the foreign exchange rates

•             Timely filing

•             Any Ad Hoc duties as and when required


 The Accountant is accountable to the Manager, Finance UK for their responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the company performance management review cycle and regular monitoring of performance against KPIs throughout the year

Core accountabilities are:

•             Accurate submissions of works scope and report

•             Ensures compliance with financial controls, upholds financial governance, and is vigilant to suspicious transactions and fraud

•             Meeting submission deadlines

•             Execution of defined administrative tasks

•             Participation in company performance management cycle

•             Accountable to the Manager, Finance UK


•             Authority to correspond with bank representatives in relation to transactional tasks in scope of role

•             Refer to the Company’s  Authority Matrix for further reference


•             Analysing and interpreting; thinks broadly across multiple locations and business unit to consider wider information and implications, analyses numerical data, verbal data and all other sources of information related to work scope and tasks, recognises gaps and probes for further information in order to gain understanding of a problem or compliance, controls, or governance concern 

•             Interacting and relationships; communicates effectively with team members and clients, relates well to others with confidence and empathy, builds trusts and responds quickly to needs of others and feedback, proactively drives communication with team members and stakeholder cross multiple locations and functions, is comfortable raising issues and concerns and challenging people on governance issues, including more senior personnel, and has demonstrable confidence to do so

•             Planning and organising; sets clearly defined objectives, manages time effectively, monitors performance against deadlines and milestones

•             Principles and values; upholds ethics and company values, demonstrates integrity and accountability, and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and instructions, and all applicable laws, including financial crime laws.


•             2+ years’ experience in a Finance role

•             Must have a Finance qualification

•             Working understanding of financial controls, governance and financial crimes laws (anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, etc.) applicable to multinational corporations operating in high risk jurisdictions

•             Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office, with Advanced Excel

•             Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains an advantage, but not essential.  Training will be provided as necessary
