London, UK / with regular travel globally to our areas of operation, which include Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya and some travel to our management offices.

Job Outline:


The Senior Manager, Welfare is responsible for managing all operations personnel welfare issues for projects, Consultants and their families. The position will provide general support to the DRIW across the following areas;



•             Managing complex welfare cases, from start to finish.

•             Working with the DRIW, UK, oversee all bereavement procedures including NOK notification and WIA/NOK visits as required.

•             On-call evacuation support for projects during evenings and weekends.

•             Post incident and general welfare case management.

•             Management of current/on-going welfare cases.

•             Provide advice and assistance to Regional Management Teams (RMT) & projects on welfare matters.

•             Drafting and maintaining welfare related SOPs.

•             Develop and implement welfare crisis response strategy, post incident with the welfare team, RMT.

•             Act as one of the POCs for NOK and family during medevac and repatriation.

•             Develop and maintain welfare/mental health training programmes for GW projects.

•             Deliver in country welfare training.

•             Conduct project welfare visits.

•             Provide welfare support to GWFS as and when requested, including advice on welfare cases and assistance with medevac.


Culture and Engagement

•             Design and implement internal communication platform for Consultants, including notifications/ liaison on projects won, acquisitions, Company expansion, promotions, new opportunities.

•             Working in partnership with RMTs, coordinate Consultant recognition awards.

•             Develop CSR opportunities with RMTs and DRIW.

•             Supporting the DRIW, work in partnership with leaders, managers and HR to design, implement and develop global Culture and Engagement initiatives, to create an inclusive and productive culture within the organization.

•             Working with the DRIW, create meaningful opportunities for staff and teams to interact, as well as advising and coaching leaders and managers to help them improve levels of engagement and performance in their teams.

The Senior Manager, Welfare is accountable to the Senior Director, Risk, Insurance and Welfare for their responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of their KPIs.


As directed and delegated by the Senior Director, Risk, Insurance and Welfare.


•             Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferably in related subject.

•             5-8 years of experience in a similar role desirable.

•             Specialized training in family liaison, welfare, post-incident trauma support, crisis response, preferred.

•             Experience working in the military or policy in a welfare or human resources capacity desirable.

•             Experience working in emergency evacuation situations (casevac/medivac) essential.

•             Experience working in complex environments desirable.

•             Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office IT packages.

•             Must have right to live and work in the UK.
