GardaWorld - Security Systems team is growing and looking for an experienced & motivated Controller to join our Finance team. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing full cycle financial reporting, budgeting and transaction accounting teams. This includes providing oversight to a team of five+ interacting with our various offices across Canada within multi company context.

To succeed as the Controller, you should be focused on optimizing department processes and building lasting relationship with others within and outside of the business. You should be knowledgeable, analytical, and decisive with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Controller Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

• Provide consistent, accurate, timely financial results to all stakeholders
• Review of the month end financials including full P&L and balance sheet reconciliations
• Monthly review of commissions calculations and provide approval to sent to payroll
• Process improvement to increase efficiency in month end close process to drive down time-to-close and align finance processes with parent company standards
• Preparation of the monthly forecasting, variance analysis and KPI reporting
• Support the annual budgeting process

Accounts Receivable/Billing

• Oversee customer master data, billing, cash receipts processing, collections, and revenue reporting
• Monitor AR aging and work closely with the Collections Associate, Sales team and Legal (internal & external) on collection resolutions
• Prepare monthly AR aging analysis report to help prioritize collection efforts
• Review AR subledger for potential bad debts and provide recommendations on the amount to provide for and write them off when necessary
• Review Recurring Monthly Revenue (RMR) detailed schedule and rollforward schedule to ensure accuracy and completeness

Accounts Payable

• Oversee vendor master data, invoice coding and approval, payment processing, vendor statement and corporate credit card statement reconciliation
• Monitor AP aging and work with AP Specialist to ensure payments are made on a timely basis; review payments to ensure it is accurately processed and supported
• Review and approve wire templates
• Review and work with AP Specialist and Operations to investigate and reconcile open Purchase Orders (POs) and Accrued Inventory Payable

Team Management

• Drive team unity through motivation, training and evaluating employees to enhance their performance, development and work; address performance issues and makes recommendations for personal growth
• Team capacity management and planning
• Lead hiring and onboarding for new direct reports

Other Duties

• Lead day-to-day contact for year end audit and tax compliance
• ERP system SME and NetSuite administrator
• Manage the resolution of issues escalated from team members
• Continuously drive the improvement of systems and processes to gain efficiencies, reduce errors and ensure records are complete and recorded accurately and on a timely basis
• Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines and government regulations
• Ad hoc requests

Controller Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Business, Finance or Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience and people management
• Experience working in a multi company environment
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs; Word, Outlook, Excel (pivot tables & xlookups)
• Accounting designation and experience with NetSuite are required
• CPA designated (preferably)
