Operations Manager - Toronto Pearson International Airport.

 

Reporting to the General Manager, Operations, the Operations Manager is responsible for daily management and oversight of airport operations within checkpoints. The role holder provides clear direction and holds employees and direct reports accountable to high performance standards while providing motivation towards achieving operational excellence. By fostering interdepartmental connectedness, this role ensures excellence in deliverables and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while ensuring passenger safety and client satisfaction.

 

TASKS AND DUTIES

 

▪ Oversee day to day checkpoint operations

▪ Guide and support operations team to ensure daily operational effectiveness
▪ Oversee and manage all aspects of site planning, organizing, training, monitoring, and achieving the overall performance expectations of client, stakeholders, and GardaWorld
▪ Ensure site operations comply with GardaWorld, client and stakeholder, operational and security procedures, policies, and programs
▪ Foster connectedness and collaboration between administrative and operation sectors through timely communication
▪ Conduct directed oversight on screening positions and procedures
▪ Maintain strong relationships with CATSA, union, employees, and other stakeholders
▪ Ensure and oversee document completion in compliance with internal and client expectations
▪ Monitor operational performance metrics and suggests operational improvements
▪ Identify required performance improvements by analyzing data and best practices
▪ Make timely, informed, and realistic recommendations for change and implementation
▪ Use relevant information to prepare budgets and schedule forecasts
▪ Assist General Manager, Operations in long term strategic planning
▪ Assist with internal investigations including but not limited to breach, infiltration tests, security events, human resources events, training events, professional conduct events and attendance events
▪ Develop and implement Screening Point Managers schedules and tracks all vacations and time off
▪ Promote occupational health and safety at screening checkpoints
▪ Support colleagues with investigation, response, and adjudication of level one grievances
▪ Direct, motivate, and coach the performance of direct reports
▪ Perform SITT clock audits
▪ Other Duties as required

 

EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED

 

▪ University or College Degree in Business Management or other related discipline
▪ Minimum two (2) years of management experience
▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook)
▪ Knowledge and understanding of Collective Agreements
▪ Strong strategic development and analytical skills
▪ Ability to work in a 24/7 fast paced environment
▪ Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
▪ Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
▪ Ability to excel in stressful situations
▪ Strong organizational and planning skills
▪ Previous experience in Unionized environment is an asset
▪ Familiarity with internal systems, such as GSKED and CATSA’s LMS system is an asset
▪ Bilingual in English and French is an asset
