What matters most in this role is your ability to read your environment, identify potential risks, and respond appropriately. Strong observation skills, situational awareness, and effective communication are essential to maintaining a safe and secure environment.

As a Response Security Guard, physical ability is important, as you will be active and moving throughout your entire shift. Duties may include conducting regular foot patrols, monitoring facilities, responding to incidents, assisting during emergencies, and maintaining a visible security presence in environments such as retail stores, airports, security facilities, and commercial properties.

Responsibilities for Response Security Guard

• Conduct regular foot patrols and monitor assigned areas.

• Observe and identify suspicious or unusual activity.

• Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and security equipment.

• Check identification and control access to restricted areas.

• Respond quickly and professionally to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies.

• Conduct on-site checks when an alarm or incident occurs.

• Prepare clear and accurate daily activity reports and incident reports.

• Use professional conflict-resolution and de-escalation techniques.

• Help prevent unauthorized loitering and unauthorized access.

• Check that alarms, cameras, and other security equipment are functioning properly.

• Document incidents, observations, and actions taken.

• Work cooperatively with police and other emergency services when required during serious incidents.

• Maintain a professional and visible security presence throughout the assigned property.

Qualifications for Response Security Guard

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Must able to have a valid Security Guard Licence.

• Valid First Aid & CPR certification is required.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and situational awareness.

• Flexible availability, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

• Ability to remain professional and calm when dealing with challenging situations.

• Reliable, responsible, and punctual.

• Ability to follow security procedures, site instructions, and post orders.

• Strong observation and incident-reporting skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
