As a Surveillance Security Guard, you will play a key role in identifying potential threats and unusual activity before they escalate. You may work in environments such as security operations centres, call centres, construction sites, parking lots, gatehouses, and other security-sensitive locations.

Your ability to stay focused, recognize changes in activity, document observations accurately, and communicate concerns promptly will help maintain a safe and secure environment.

Responsibilities for Surveillance Security Guard

• Conduct regular foot patrols to ensure the safety and security of the premises.

• Monitor CCTV and other security systems to detect suspicious or unusual activity.

• Maintain a professional, alert, and visible security presence throughout the shift.

• Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, emergencies, and potential security threats.

• Monitor vulnerable persons and conduct regular cell checks to ensure their safety and well-being.

• Identify, assess, and report unusual, suspicious, or potentially unsafe situations.

• Control access to secure areas and verify visitor identification and authorization.

• Monitor security systems and identify potential vulnerabilities, malfunctions, or security concerns.

• Document all observed events, incidents, and security concerns in clear and detailed reports.

• Work cooperatively with law enforcement and emergency services during serious incidents or emergencies.

Qualifications for Surveillance Security Guard

• You must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Able to get a valid security guard licence.

• Valid First Aid certification is listed as required for this version of the posting.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for writing security reports.

• Good eyesight and the ability to stay focused for extended periods.

• Comfortable using technology, likely including CCTV and security systems.

• Able to stand and walk for long periods.

• Must have flexible availability, including back shifts/night shifts.
