Job Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and developing a strong management or administration team capable of exercising effective management, financial and operational controls of the Project fostering a positive environment and ensures customer satisfaction. The position is tasked with a leading role for the profitability, business development and growth, practice effective financial control and ensure service delivery standards are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Project, including client relations, new service transition and employee relations. Foster an orderly and uninterrupted work environment for the Project and or Contracts and ensure that the Contract and or Project operates strictly within legal and ethical parameters.
  2. In collaboration with the Head of Business unit, prepare and manage budget and targets for the entire project and also planning on both a short-term and long-term basis, for future operational growth and expansion;
  3. Develop, review, monitor and manage budgets and capital expenditure while implementing effective financial controls. Take a leading role in ensuring the profitability, maintaining the responsibility and control of all financial impacts to the Project;
  4. Develop and implement Project strategic Security Services Management ensuring ongoing compliance with all company-wide programs. Develop Business Continuity Programs by formulating, proposing, implementing and revising Project strategy, operations;
  5. Design and implement a comprehensive security service programme consistent with identified risks and agreed clients contractual terms. Maintain and implement Service Delivery Standards to inform value for money and client(s) satisfaction;
  6. Responsible for the management and operational control of all Projects Operations, Technical and associated tactical resources deployed / allocated within the Project boundaries. Direct all operational aspects of the branch including operations, customer service, technical services, sales functions and administration ensuring a smooth running of the business;
  7. Manage the operating equipment, conducting inventory and study opportunities to reduce losses and damages, and ensure consistent and accurate inventories are taken in accordance with KKSL procedures;
  8. Review contracts, collaterals, quality and service standards on regular basis and ensures compliance to KKSL Services Standards. Maintain and enforce all quality, service standards and procedures for Project operations;
  9. Establish standards, conducts spot checks on internal controls and ensures compliance. Constantly review the current procedures and practices to ensure they are aligned to staff and clients
  10. Address customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly  and to adhere to high ethical standards, and comply with all regulations/applicable laws of the land;
  11. Manage client relations ensuring they are maintained within the standards, including regular contact with clients, proactive problem resolution, and oversight regarding daily client issues;
  12. Responsible to bring out the best of Project staff by providing training, coaching, development and motivation, fostering a positive environment in which the personnel are able to thrive. In collaboration with HR department, facilitate employee learning and development by assessing capability, identifying gaps and designing training interventions to redress them. Expected to identify business, department and individual needs or gaps;
  13. Seek continuous business growth opportunities. Assess the market conditions and identify current and prospective sales opportunities and develop business growth forecasts, financial objectives and business plans to meet goals and metrics;
  14. Locate areas of improvement and propose corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities and stay abreast of competition and provide reports on market movement and penetration via monthly performance report;
  15. Network to improve the presence and reputation of the company in the region. Share knowledge with other Projects, branches and headquarter on effective practices, competitive intelligence and business opportunities.
  16. In collaboration with HR department, manage disciplinary issues in line with the provisions of the Employment Act and company policy and ensure fairness and transparency, thus minimising instances of litigation. Drive grievance resolution and ensure that all pertinent issues are addressed in a fair, confidential and transparent manner; and
  17. Formulate career development and succession plans that address the current and future business requirements of the Project and offer returns on investment.

  3. Effective implementation of the Project business plan and effectively support the company’s plans.

  6. Provide impeccable security services to our clients.
  7. Create conducive working relationship between the Project and the HQ departments.

Accountability:

The Project Manager is accountable to the Managing Director, Kenya for the responsibilities herein. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of KPIs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Project Management, Facilities Management, General Management or Business Administration.
  • Minimum ten (10) years military, police and/or commercial security management
  • Good exposure to security operations and business financials
  • Experience in leading both administration staff and the unionised commercial security teams.
  • Experience of working in labour intensive and unionised environments
  • Tech savvy with good IT skills
