As a Retail Security Supervisor you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations and success of the Security team at a high profile retail location.  Focused on the safety of all staff and visitors, the Security Guard Supervisor is responsible for managing contract operations, a team of security guards, as well as overseeing call response and day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, procedures and position directives.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 0800-1600 (Successful applicants will need to be able to work flexible hours should business needs dictate)

Pay Rate: $22.00 - $25.00 dependent upon experience and training

What does a Contract Security Manager do?

  • Plan, direct and ensure the smooth running of operations
  • Train, retain and develop your security team
  • Develop and implement procedures and policies for security operations
  • Make recommendations to improve and optimize the security service
  • Manage schedules, special projects, daily staff operations
  • Responsible for assisting with site security & safety programs
  • Respond to security incidents as a lead investigator-from initial investigation, reporting, communication of details of incident, liaising with appropriate personnel and emergency services if required
  • Assign security team audits, supervise completion, verify results. Communicate and log details of audits to track trends and patterns
  • Direct security and staff response in the event of an emergency. Act as primary security role
  • Provide outstanding leadership to a group of front-line security staff across multiple campuses

Qualifications to become the Contract Security Manager

  • 3 to 5 years experience in personnel management in a unionized environment

  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills 

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Valid security guard license and first aid certification

  • Available to work flexible hours

  • Be eligible to work in Canada

  • Professional attitude and ability to maintain and promote harmonious relationships with clients and staff

  • Some College/University asset such as Police Foundations, Criminology, Administrative Knowledge of Legal Procedures and Criminal Code
