Job description

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources Director, Ontario  


We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor for our Ontario operation reporting to the Human Resources Director, Ontario. The Health and Safety Advisor helps to lead the OHS management system for 8 branches throughout Ontario. This role will work closely with our Corporate Health and Safety team to guide and further develop and implement safety measures for all service locations. Position will be based in Toronto with travel within Ontario.


Your Duties will include:

  • Integrate into and becomes an active member of the HR Management team
  • Conduct Hazard Assessments, through task analysis, physical demands analysis, risk assessments and workplace inspections; Recommend and/or implement corrective action
  • Contribute to the creation of and/or maintenance of instructional documents, such as work procedures and training documents related Health and Safety
  • Deliver health and safety training to managers, supervisors, and employees, as determined by policy and programs
  • Conduct gap analysis of safety programs through internal audits; develop and implement a plan to address and remedy non-conformance issues
  • Lead and/or conduct incident and accident investigations; site liaison for MOL visits; escalate significant incident and accident information to the senior management level
  • Organize and Lead Joint Health and Safety Committees and meetings within a unionized and non-unionized environment
  • WSIB claims management including reporting to filing objections and appeals.
  • Create statistical data, analytical and assessment reports, as required
  • Handles all matters with confidentiality. 



  • Minimum 5 years leading health and safety preferably in a unionized environment
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is an asset
  • Must have JHSC certification
  • Must have driver’s license and transportation
  • Must have completed or is in the process of completing a health and safety degree/certificate/diploma or professional designation
  • In depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and standards in the province of Ontario
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Desire to be hands on and work with front line employees throughout all branches in Ontario
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
