Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for all facets of security for an identified site or portfolio within a defined site or geographic area.

 

Work Environment

This position will be onsite at one of our client sites in Toronto within an industrial setting. This position will require Monday – Friday availability and must be available for emergency situations.

 

Task Related Objectives

  • Ensure the consistent application of Corporate Security policies, standards and requirements across facilities in Ontario.
  • Provides support to all company-controlled retail and wholesale sites in Eastern Canada.
  • Acts as the first point of contact with Corporate Security for all matters relating to security for a given site or portfolio of sites.
  • Ensures the reporting of all security incidents and oversees effective and timely incident response.
  • Proactive liaison with Business Unit Operations Security Representatives and site operational management.
  • Pro-actively analyses and identifies evolving trends and, behaviours that have the potential to compromise site security and prepares reports and recommendations to address these risks.
  • Working with operations to determine physical security requirements to address risk, increase productivity and lower costs.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of existing security countermeasures and recommending solutions to enhance effectiveness.
  • Coordinates the design, installation, management, maintenance and repair of security systems
  • Operational oversight of contracted guard services and liaison with management representatives of guard service providers.
  • Establishing, reviewing and ensuring compliance with, site post orders for the contracted guard service
  • Providing assistance and support to Emergency Response Plans and rendering assistance to the Emergency Operations Centre.
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing security plans for special events or changes in site operations
  • Liaison with jurisdictional law enforcement.
  • Performs investigations of security incidents or of sensitive matters when requested by Corporate Security leadership.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years security experience gained in an industrial setting.
  • Able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge of security program design, risk and threat assessment, security policy development, physical security design and crisis management planning.
  • Working knowledge of access control, alarm systems and CCTV technology.
  • Highly motivated, well-organized, a proven team player, exhibiting a consistent positive attitude with attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while handling multiple assignments simultaneously, establish priorities and meet schedules.
  • Must have superior computing skills
  • Project Management knowledge an asset.
  • Have successfully completed grade 12 although post-secondary studies in criminology, police studies, risk management or safety would be preferred.
  • A Bachelor Degree would be an asset.
  • Security or related certification would be an asset, e.g. Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and valid passport
  • Be capable of obtaining a secret level security clearance
  • Previous Oil and Gas experience would be an asset

    • Emergency Response Manual/Business continuity Plan (ERM/BCP)
    • Business (Quality) Management System (BMS)
    • Quality Training
    • Occupational Health and Safety training
    • WHMIS Training.
