Security Communication Specialist

Our client, one of the premiere Universities in Toronto , is looking for dedicated Communication/Dispatch Specialist to join their team.
Your primary role is to provide communication and dispatch coordination services to the campus. You will be responsible for dispatching patrol officers to various areas of the campus, identifying and dealing with security occurrences and other related issues. You will enjoy regular and diverse interactions with the public, while also being expected to maintain the highest degree of professionalism and customer service
What you’ll be doing
- Receive incoming emergency and non-emergency calls from community and non-community members
- Initiate the appropriate response in a timely manner including connecting and transferring the caller to the right personnel
- Operate with various computerized communication devices and associated equipment to receive, assess and relay information from the public to security personnel in a courteous, professional, and expedient manner
- Remain calm under pressure and be able to multitask during high call volumes from telephone and radio communications
- Be able to prioritize and dispatch accordingly

What we’re looking for
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in the security industry and previous dispatch experience
- Valid Provincial Security Guard license, and First Aid and CPR Level C
- Exceptional interpersonal and oral and written presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to follow operational security measures, protect confidential information, and exercise good judgment and discretion.
- Demonstrated computer knowledge and the ability to learn new software
- Must be familiar with privacy related legislation
- Must be willing to participate in on-going training and development
- Strong diplomacy skills and the ability to problem solve
- Demonstrated comprehension of the Canadian Criminal Code and Trespass to Property Act powers of arrest
- Available to work full-time continental shifts
- Must have strong customer service skills, mature attitude and professionalism
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
