The Tactical Security Guard at Respite Shelter  plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, and premises. This position involves implementing security measures, monitoring access, responding to incidents, and fostering a secure and supportive environment within the shelter setting.

What does a Tactical Security Guard in Toronto do?

• Monitor and control access points to the respite shelter, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed entry.
• Verify the identity of individuals seeking respite services and ensure compliance with shelter policies.
• Conduct regular patrols inside and around the shelter premises to deter and detect security risks.
• Use surveillance systems to monitor key areas and respond promptly to any unusual activities.
• Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, or security incidents within the shelter.
• Follow established protocols for various types of emergencies, including medical situations, conflicts, or security threats.
• Provide assistance and support to shelter clients, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
• Assist in implementing shelter rules and regulations in a compassionate manner.
• Administer immediate first aid and emergency assistance to shelter clients in need.
• Coordinate with emergency services as required.
• Operate video surveillance equipment  

Qualifications to become a Tactical Security Guard in Toronto?

1. Possess a valid Ontario Security Guard license in accordance with local regulations.
2. Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification Standard C approved by WSIB 
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. Empathy and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis.
5. Training in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
6. A minimum of 2 years of experience in Tactical Security .
7. Any Law Related educational degree/diploma /certification like Police Foundations, Criminology is an asset .
8. Any pervious experience in handling people from the vulnerable section of the society is an asset 
9. 1 Year Military Experience is an asset 
10. Physical fitness for regular patrols and emergency response.
