Training Instructor

Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for providing a positive and fulfilling learning environment at the GardaWorld Career
Development and Training Centre.

 

Work Environment
This job requires extensive periods of standing while instructing program modules. A high degree of physical
fitness, coordination and energy are required for the instruction of defensive tactics program courses. Physical
fatigue and visual strain may be caused by extended periods of word processing. Mental stress may be caused
by work volume, meeting deadlines and juggling priorities.

 

Structure and Relationship
This position reports to the Lead Instructor. This position will have regular interaction with Senior Management,
Account Managers, Human Resources, Recruiting, guards and external people.
It is expected that the Training Instructor understands and maintains confidentiality as it pertains to the business
and company related matters.

 

Required Skills
The incumbent will require the following skill set:

  • Strong skills in communication, analytical thinking, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Certified Ontario Use of Force Theory Instructor or equivalent
  • Certified First Aid Instructor with a WSIB approved training provider
  • Licensed Security Guard in Ontario (Dual License preferred)
  • Avoidance and Ground Escape
  • Adult Education Certificate or Diploma or equivalent

 

Branch and/or Regional Goals at Point of Signing

  • Focus on retention of employees.
  • The incumbent will review and participate in annual training on the following areas:
  • Emergency Response Manual/Business Continuity Plan (ERM/BCP)
  • Business (Quality) Management System (BMS)
  • Quality Training
  • Occupational Health and Safety Training
  •  WHMIS Training.

 

Task Related Objectives

  • Provide professional guidance of internal and external curriculum
  • Instructs the 40 Hour Security Guard Basic Training
  • Facilitates academic courses including communications, legal procedures, etc.
  • Facilitates defensive tactics programs
  • Maintenance of employee training records
  • Responsible for the continuous maintenance and revisions to courses, based on best practices, legislative changes and company requirements.
