Training Screening Point Manager

JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager – Training, the Screening Point Manager-Training (SPM-T) is responsible for managing all aspects of the hourly training team. The SPM-T ensures relevant training material is being effectively delivered by the Training Team Lead (TTL) group for both response to performance concern and enhanced skills development. In addition, the SPM-T will manage the deployment and assessment of the TTL group to ensure that an efficient standard of delivery is maintained.
TASKS AND DUTIES
- Oversees scheduling, task assignment and deployment accountability of TTL group for internal and client programs
- Provides direct oversight on both internal and external (client) training initiatives providing daily feedback to Manager, Training
- Assists in the development and delivery of TTL assessment and development
- Implements, oversees and contributes to the development of various internal training initiatives
- Proctors recurrent learning activities and Screening Officer examinations
- Performs employee evaluations for TTL’s and probationary employees (SOF)
- In conjunction with Training Information Specialists, ensures that performance plans are delivered on schedule
- Communicates regularly with the client Learning and Performance Advisor team
- Participates in the hiring and onboarding of new TTL’s
- Supports Manager, Training as required
- Audit and manage controlled training items
- Monitor and maintain communication devices
- Must be available to work variable shifts (includes weekends, afternoons and evenings)
- Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
- Must possess a strong drive to lead, teach, mentor and develop others
- College Diploma or University Degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in training and supervising unionized employees is considered an asset
- Able to multi-task, prioritize and produce results in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interdepartmental communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow complex operating procedures
- Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance
- Experience in aviation environment an asset
- Knowledge of legislation of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority Act, Official Languages Act, and Canada Labour Code considered an asset
