GardaWorld offers a competitive daily rate (Contractor will only be paid whilst on-duty – no payment made for Off-duty) 

*subject to local tax (if applicable) 

Leave Rotation

6 weeks on, 6 weeks off, subject to operational requirements

Travel Pay

Travel pay is one half of the On-Duty rate for day(s) spent travelling from the contractor’s country of residence to the place of work (max of 2 days) and on return to the country of residence (max of 2 days).

Visa Requirements

The Contractor is required to pay for his visa for entry into the country of operations.  The Company will assist with Letters of Invitation and may pay for the visa on the contractor’s behalf and deduct the costs from the contractor’s fee.


GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights and life support while on duty.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address.


The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.


The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.

Hiring Criteria

  • Preferred minimum of 7 year’s military experience and previous experience in hostile environment (min 2 operational tours)
  • Valid SIA Licence (Close Protection front-line)
  • British & Commonwealth passport holders only* – see note below
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • In date FPOS-I qualification; and
  • To have attended and passed a UK accredited, or equivalent  CP course.  
  • Qualified & experienced in fire-arms use
  • Qualified & experienced in armoured vehicle driving
  • Former Warrant Officers or senior ranked members of a sovereign military unit or para-military police force OR have demonstrable management experience at the same level on a similar project
  • Training in Human Rights and International Law
  • Strong communications and IT skills, including use of all Microsoft programmes; Excel, Word, Outlook

*All candidates will need to be screened to SC level – or eligible for screening so only British & Commonwealth passport holders can apply. Proviso: You must have been resident in the UK for at least two of the previous 10 years immediately prior to your application, at least one year of which must have been a consecutive twelve month period unless you have served overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of Her Majesty’s Government, or have lived overseas as a result of your parents’ or partner’s Government employment.

Job Duties

This project does not have an operations manager, the PM is the client, team and GW point of contact and senior manager on project for all day to day as well as wider issues and plans.


  • The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for the execution of the Contract on the ground and will be the first in-country point of contact for the Authority in all security related matters for this project. As well as providing an oversight function for all aspects of the Authority’s security provision, the PM will coordinate with the Authority for the production of standard operating procedures and provide security consultancy and crisis management. He will produce detailed risk assessments when required, coordinate journey planning, draft and audit security protocols and develop evacuation, medical and safety plans. The PM will be responsible for coordinating the running of the Operations Room, including crisis response and post-incident management. The PM will work closely with the Authority management team (the OSM on site) and the DHM. He will produce weekly reports to the OSM covering issues such as changes in the security situation, a summary and evaluation of the week’s tasks, the status and location of all personnel and vehicles and a forecast for the following week.
