Job Summary:
|
|
The Head of Guarding is responsible for the direction and control of all commercial and operational aspects of the Guarding Business Unit to ensure efficient delivery and service to all internal and external customers. The position ensures the highest level of customer satisfaction whilst achieving organic growth and financial success.
|
|
Key Responsibilities:
|
- Business Unit Management:
- Head and manage the Guarding Unit commercially and operationally to maximize profitability whilst ensuring quality performance improvement and customer service delivery.
- Lead in the development of the unit’s budgets and strategies to achieve revenue growth plans.
- Lead and monitor the implementation of approved budgets and plans.
- Resource Deployment:
- Develop organizational arrangements, systems, and processes to enable the efficient and effective deployment of resources in line with internal policies, procedures, and standards.
- Responsible for close control and management of sub-contractor accreditation, quality, costs, and performance.
- Client Relations:
- Manage Tier 1 client relations by giving regular updates and convening meetings to ensure compliance with service delivery expectations.
- Provide guidance for Operations Managers and Contract Managers during high-profile incident management scenarios.
- Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership and direction for the various operational management and branch teams.
- Manage staff capacity and skill levels within the department to meet current and planned outputs.
- Build and maintain talent infrastructure and employee development by assessing capability, identifying gaps, and designing training programs.
- Operational Reporting:

- Develop and deliver robust internal and external performance reports.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of accurate management reports to the Managing Director.
- Compliance and Audit:
- Facilitate the internal audit process and be responsible for implementing the ensuing action plans for the Guarding business unit.
- Ensure the Guarding business meets all requirements of the BMS and GWI operational standards.
- Contract Mobilization:
- Mobilize new contract wins ensuring a full and accurate understanding of contract pricing mechanisms.
- Operational Excellence:
- Ensure all operational KPIs are met by management and supervisory teams.
- Contribute to management and supervisory performance annual and midyear reviews.
- Resource Management:
- Provide logistical support and, on occasion, guidance to the guarding project teams.
- Delegation:
- Deputize Head of Security Operations on Guarding matters.

Accountability:

The Head of Guarding is accountable to the Country Head of Security Operations for the responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of KPIs.

Qualifications & Experience:
|
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in security management or an operational risk field.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum ten (10) years’ Security service experience with at least 3 years in a senior position in the services industry.
- Technical understanding of commercial security.
- Experience in developing individuals and fostering their career advancement including suitable coaching and mentoring abilities.
- Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
