Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for day-to-day financial activities and effective financial management of the business The Senior Accountant will be instrumental in ensuring that the underlying financial data is complete and accurate and that the internal control framework is adhered to. They will support the analysis of management information, and support budget holders to discharge their financial responsibilities effectively, in the context of new ways of working for the organization. They will provide business partnering support to key parts of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specific business support to non-finance teams, supporting budget holders to interpret management accounts and financial information for effective decision-making and empowering budget holders to take ownership of their financial management responsibilities.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for budget holders.
  • Collate feedback on the monthly financial information, taking action as appropriate and updating projections.
  • Support the AR and Cash flow function of the business; Oversee and manage treasury and banking functions.
  • Perform month-end control checks and reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee the payment run process.
  • Lead on the monthly income reconciliations undertaken in conjunction with the billing team
  • Ensure financial controls and procedures are adhered to.
  • Manage financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Check and confirm monthly management and financial statements and liaise with auditors for any adjustments that may be necessary during the audit.
  • Develop and implement appropriate internal control systems and financial procedures across the company and ensure adherence to the set policies. Take the lead in updating, reviewing, and documenting GardaWorld financial policies and procedures.
  • Monitor all financial activities and practices to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company policies.

Accountability:

The Senior Accountant is accountable to the: Head of Finance - Uganda for their responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of their KPI’s.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Business Degree holder and Qualified CPA / ACCA
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrable ability to work systematically and accurately, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate financial information to
  • nonfinance staff.
  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Office particularly Excel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience in supporting budget holders in terms of financial information.
  • Demonstrable ability to think and work strategically.
  • Solid knowledge of financial controls.
  • Commitment to the policies and values of the organization
