As a Retail Security Guard, you will be the person helping create a safe and welcoming shopping experience by monitoring activity, preventing theft, responding to incidents, and supporting both customers and store staff in a busy retail setting.

Responsibilities for Retail Security Guard

• Monitor the retail environment and security systems to detect suspicious activity or potential theft
• Respond quickly and professionally to incidents, disturbances, or safety concerns
• Document observed events and incidents by completing accurate and detailed reports
• Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the store to help maintain a safe and secure environment
• Control access to restricted or staff-only areas and verify visitor or contractor identification when required
• Identify potential safety, security, or operational concerns and report them to management
• Work closely with store leadership, emergency services, and law enforcement during serious incidents or emergencies 

Qualifications for Retail Security Guard

• Be authorized to work in Canada
• Hold a valid BC security license 
• First aid certification - an asset
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure or emergency situations.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and adhere to professional conduct at all times.
• Capable of standing/walking for extended periods.
• Strong report writing skills
• Good eyesight and excellent ability to maintain focus
• Strong proficiency with technology
• Ability to stand and walk throughout shift
