As a Retail Security Guard, you'll spend the majority of your shift on your feet, conducting patrols throughout the store, monitoring for theft or suspicious activity, responding to incidents, and assisting customers and employees when needed. Physical stamina, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential to succeeding in this role.

Responsibilities for Retail Security Guard
- Conduct regular patrols throughout the retail store to deter theft and ensure a safe environment for customers and staff
- Monitor for suspicious activity, shoplifting, fraud, and other security concerns
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers and acting as a visible security presence
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, and customer concerns
- Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate daily activity logs
- Monitor CCTV systems and investigate potential security issues
- Support loss prevention initiatives by identifying and reporting theft or policy violations
- Control access to restricted areas, including stockrooms and employee-only spaces
- Work collaboratively with store management, loss prevention teams, and law enforcement when required
- Ensure all safety procedures and emergency protocols are followed to help maintain a secure shopping environment
Qualifications for Retail Security Guard
- Be authorized to work in Canada
- Hold a valid BC security license
- First aid certification - an asset
- Ability to stand and walk throughout shift
