As a Library Security Shift Supervisor, exceptional team leading qualities and ensuring seamless Security operation is essential as you will be moving around your entire shift, Motivating and montioring highly trained security guards, patrolling environments and safeguarding people around you in a Library environment

Responsibilities for Library Security Shift Supervisor

• Lead, mentor, and support a team of security guards to ensure site protocols are followed
• Provide a visible security presence and conduct regular foot patrols of the Library, Skywalk, and sensitive areas
• Control access to restricted areas, monitor entrances, and operate metal detection equipment
• Respond quickly and professionally to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and tenant concerns
• Conduct de-escalation and trauma-informed safety approaches, with attention to anti-racism and cultural awareness
• Monitor CCTV systems, ensure security equipment is functioning properly, and collaborate with law enforcement when required
• Remove unauthorized individuals and manage high-stress situations calmly and effectively
• Communicate clearly and professionally with the public, staff, and crisis support teams, providing directions and assistance as needed
• Oversee opening and closing procedures, including securing doors, elevators, and alarm systems
• Maintain accurate incident reports, activity logs, and ensure all site documentation is completed

Qualifications for Library Security Shift Supervisor

• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Valid Manitoba Security Guard License
• Leadership experience (asset)
• First Aid certification (asset)
• Positive attitude and professional appearance
• Physically and mentally fit; able to stand and walk for the entire shift
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable with technology and security equipment
• Tactical experience (asset)
