As a Library Security shift supervisor, exceptional team leading qualities and ensuring seamless Security operation is essential as you will be moving around your entire shift, Motivating and montioring highly trained security gyuards, patrolling environments and safeguarding people around you in a Library environt

Responsibilities for Library Security Shift Supervisor

• Lead a team of highly trained security guards
• Ensure that guards are following all the site protocols effectively 
• Facilitate access to restricted areas for authorized persons 
• React quickly to threats or incidents
• Check the proper functioning of alarms and cameras
• Document incidents and actions taken
• Respond to alarms and conduct on-site checks
• Collaborate with law enforcement during serious incidents
• Excessive foot patrols (interior/exterior) sensitive areas to spot any suspicious activity 
• Responding to tenant requests
• Emergency Response
• Monitor closed circuit cameras   
• Removal of unauthorized individuals 
• React quickly and professionally during emergencies or stressful situations.
• Conflict de-escalation and trauma-informed safety approaches, with a focus on anti-racism and cultural awareness.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English for clear and calm interactions.
• Provide a visible security presence on all floors of Library and Skywalk during operational hours.
• Control access to the library entrance, including operating metal detection gates and welcoming visitors.
• Offer site information and directions to the public, maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Collaborate effectively with library staff, Community Safety Hosts, and Crisis Workers to create a safe and welcoming environment.
• Follow opening and closing procedures, including locking/unlocking doors, elevators, and rooms, and activating/deactivating alarm systems.
• Maintain detailed logs of unusual occurrences.

Qualifications for Library Security Shift Supervisor

• Be authorized to work in Canada
• Hold a valid Manitoba security license
• Leadership experience ( An asset)
• First aid certification an asset
• Maintains a positive attitude and professional appearance.
• Ability to stand and walk entire shift
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• First Aid training ( An Asset)
• Physically and mentally fit to perform duties.
• Tactical experience ( Asset)
• Good with Technology
