We are currently hiring Operations Managers to oversee daily operations at Winnipeg International Airport, providing guidance and support to managers with a focus on effectiveness and performance.

 

GardaWorld is the largest provider of aviation services for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), offering screening services in 28 airports across Canada.

 

Reporting to the Terminal Manager, (TM), the Operations Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the local base security screening operations. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of various teams. Additional focus on workforce planning and profitability to ensure the full utilization of resources while maintaining enhanced compliance standards. The Operations Manager must remain in tune with industry standards and play a pivotal role in the client relationship and business growth.

 

 

Position Duties

 

 

  • Responsible for adherence to operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the organization's visions.
  • Primary responsibility for the coordination and implementation of a workforce planning model for the various areas of the operations to ensure compliance with both safety and service requirements on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • The first point of contact is to communicate job site conditions and concerns that may affect or are affecting the completion of the operational requirement to crucial stakeholders. Responsible for implementing solutions to improve the overall effectiveness of the operations.
  • Monitor that screening operations follow the aviation industry protocols, client requirements, legislation, or division-specific. Lead/implement remedial or training actions to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Leads the recruitment process for screening personnel and is the decision-maker for hires. Engaged and responsible for making the final decision regarding the number of incumbents and the success of any candidate. Partners with other departments to ensure all background and training requirements are met.
  • Investigations: Critical competence of this position is to lead the investigative process for matters relating to Harassment, Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, or corrective action. The Operations Manager is the final decision maker in the outcome and further actions to be taken, including the possible termination of screening personnel.
  • Monitors the workforce absenteeism, in conjunction with support from administrative support services. The Operations Manager leads the preliminary discussions and accommodation process, including managing confidential and sensitive information. Will be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the accommodations in alignment with company protocols and the Human Rights Act.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between departments through communications with a variety of support services to meet the requirements of daily operations and client expectations.
  • Responsible for leading emergency preparedness and critical response involving any potential security threat. This includes acting as the first responder and leading initial communications, including any reporting.
  • Conduct regular operational meetings and team briefings, with direct reports to review performance results, customer surveys and compliance scores and keep employees up to date with corporate and industry changes.
  • Support a labour relations strategy aligned with operational requirements and is in support of the company culture and values. This includes leading the team through the grievance process, which includes providing written response.
  • Responsible for managing the data collection and other pertinent information in support of presenting daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly operational effectiveness directly with the client and internal contacts. This role is responsible for preparing the materials, including reports and possibly PowerPoint presentations.
  • Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment. Liaison with Health and Safety internal community to ensure compliance.
  • Manages and increases the effectiveness and efficiency of the supporting departments (Human Resources, Quality, Administration, and Finance) through the coordination and communication between the business functions.

Application Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a Senior Management capacity overseeing a management team
  • Minimum 3 years experience in aviation or relevant field overseeing large operations
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite specifically in Excel and Access
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident as defined in the Immigration Act with an employment authorization document
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and Secret Clearance
  • No previous criminal background for which a pardon has not been granted
  • 18 years or older
  • All GardaWorld Security Screening Inc. employees are required to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine series, approved by Health Canada, as a condition of hire. Should you be the successful candidate, you will be required to comply with GardaWorld’s mandatory Vaccination Policy that is in effect.

  • Internal candidates must be in good standing with no performance events on file
  • Travel may be required for training. Other travel may be requested when assistance is required at other airports
